Publication: Local government in Scotland Overview 2020

This report is the Accounts Commission’s annual summary of the key challenges and performance issues faced by councils. This report, whilst prepared before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, contains messages which will be useful for public bodies to consider in the recovery process. Issues relating to financial sustainability, the need to change how services are delivered, longer term budget management and the need to make more progress with the integration of health and social care services, are now more urgent than ever.
