Our people

We employ around 250 people. Some are based in Edinburgh, where we have our headquarters, and others are in offices throughout Scotland. A board oversees our work.

Ian Leitch CBE

Chair of Audit Scotland Board

Ian was an assistant chief executive at the Scottish Parliament before his retirement, and before that was in local government. He is now a member of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission. Ian joined the board on 1 April 2014.

Douglas Sinclair

Douglas Sinclair

Chair of the Accounts Commission for a term of office until 30 November 2017

Former Deputy Chair of the Accounts Commission. Has held the position of Chief Executive in district, regional and unitary councils in Scotland, as well as being former Chief Executive of COSLA.

Douglas retired as of 8 March 2017.

Professor Russel Griggs

Professor Russel Griggs OBE

Independent, non-executive director of the Audit Scotland Board

Russel has had a number of non executive positions in the private, public and third sector. He is also Chair of the Audit Committee of VisitScotland, a Board member of Scottish Enterprise, and a Non Executive Director of the Scottish Government.

Heather was a member of the Scottish Government's audit and risk committee and chair of the corporate services audit and risk committee. She is is currently Chair of the Audit Committee.

Russell is responsible for the external strategic and development work of financial audit, as well as auditing and accounting standards, technical support and quality assurance.

Fraser McKinlay

Fraser McKinlay

Director of Performance Audit and Best Value

Fraser is responsible for overseeing the best value audit process, conducting national performance audits for the Accounts Commission, and overseeing any performance audit which focusses on particular value for money issues.
